Thomas P. Brown IV

Thomas Brown was a founder and Principal of Brown Gitt Law Group for 18 years. Prior to then, he was the managing attorney for the Los Angeles office of Epstein Becker and Green for 12 years. Tom also was previously a partner at Ford and Harrison and Jackson Lewis in their Los Angeles offices. His early experience was primarily in public service for the Department of Labor, based in Atlanta, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in San Francisco.

Throughout his distinguished career, Tom earned a reputation as a respected member of the California Bar and a dedicated advocate for his clients. With a legal career spanning nearly five decades, Tom was widely known for his unwavering commitment to his clients, his knowledge and skill, and the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.

Tom’s practice was rooted in serving businesses of all kinds and sizes, primarily in California. His primary focus was labor and employment issues, but he also capably litigated business and construction cases. He had more trial experience than most. He combined deep legal insight with an unrelenting drive to achieve positive results. Colleagues and clients alike recognized him not just for his expertise but also for his integrity and compassion. He often volunteered time to small business owners and individuals who could not fully compensate him. He also volunteered to represent active and Veteran servicemen and servicewomen, to whom he related due to his own service with the Marines in Vietnam.

Throughout his career, Tom served as a mentor to many younger attorneys and experts, sharing his wealth of knowledge and setting an example of what it means to practice law with honor. His contributions to the legal community and deep respect for the law earned him admiration throughout the state.

After an illustrious career, Tom retired from active practice in February 2024. He passed away in May 2025 following a long illness, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of working with him.
